About No. 004. Cut from quarter-inch 80CrV2, with Ultrex scales shaped by hand on the grinder. Ultrex is a Micarta with rubber worked into it, so it keeps its grip when your hands are wet or cold — which is exactly when you want that from an axe. No two are ever the same: this handle's contour is its own, and the finish on this head came up the way only this one did. It ships in a Kydex sheath formed for this exact axe.

Timber axes are made one at a time at our shop on Main Street in Heber City, Utah. Ground here, heat treated here, handles shaped here, sharpened here. Not a factory tool with our name on it.
Caring for carbon steel. 80CrV2 will patina with use and will rust if neglected. Wipe it dry after use and keep a light coat of oil on the head. Food-grade mineral oil is all it needs.
